What instillations make me eligible for the Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy?
There are three main installations/ replacements that can be covered.
1. Installation of a backwater valve
2. Installation of a sump pump
3. Severance and capping of a home’s storm sewer or external weeping tile connection
Installation or replacement of a backwater valve.
Installation of an alarm for a backwater valve.
The Backwater Valve Subsidy can cover up to 80% with a maximum of $1250 of your invoiced cost. A building permit is required, and the valve must be inspected by a City of Toronto Building inspector.
Installation or replacement of a sump pump
Installation of an alarm for a sump pump
Installation of back-up power for a sump pump.
This Sump Pump Subsidy can cover up to 80% with a maximum of $1,750 of your invoiced cost.
Weeping Tile Pipe Severance and Capping
Disconnection of weeping tile from the city's sewer system. This includes the severing and capping of the sewer connection.
The Weeping tile pipe severance and capping subsidy can cover up to 80% with a maximum of $400 of your invoiced cost.
Remember: These subsidies are per property not per unit. If you are installing two sump pumps you will only be eligible for one subsidy.
